This post is for my Midterm. It is my abstract and my self evaluation.

The picture of the tree is a picture of a tree. The idea behind it was to create a picture of a semi ideal world. Hence the very soft look behind it. I was new at Photoshop when I made this but it fit the theme of the portfolio, which was each picture had to have a sun and a moon in it.

The next picture, dark moon, was a conceptual idea of what things would look like if the moon emitted dark light. It was a very constructional idea. I used the grass brush tool, admittedly, but it worked well for what I wanted. I used some effects in it but overall, the idea came together rather well.

Purple Moon was what I wanted to create from working with lines. The pattern initially was all that was going to include. However, given that a focus was needed, I decided to throw a purple moon into the picture because I felt the color worked better than a white one. Another idea that I incorporated was to reverse the colors on a duplicate layer and make some panels disappear. It worked well I feel.

Doom’s night was an idea of what I imagined of what would happen if the sun giver of life, decided that he didn’t want to give us his light anymore. The eye on the sun was done to show the malice in the sun. And the bow around the sun was done to show the colors of the sky, fading into the sun. It was another conceptual picture, which is another theme in my portfolio.

Warring gods is the battle that we’ve all been waiting for! What if the sun and the moon went to war with eachother? That was the idea and so I did it. I didn’t really want a background for this one so instead I showed the rays of various different colors hitting eachother to give the look of the sun and the moon firing rays of light at eachother. The colors I used were the colors of heat and the white of the moons light.

The picture of the sun and the moon with the small unidentifiable body was yet another conception that I wanted to convey. If the sun and moon had a child what would you get? The colors were extremely bright in this one and I consider this image my best. It’s warm. The funny thing is, originally, the idea was just to have the stars visible during the day. But I decided that the image again lacked focus so I added a moon. But I found that image too boring so then the final conception was born as I smeared colors and added effects.

Self Eval
Personally, as far as all the pictures go, I am extremely pleased and satisfied with how they came out. Especially for someone who has had no previous Photoshop experience, like myself. The only picture I am slightly dissatisfied with is the picture of a tree because I did that one with no knowledge of layers or special effects. However, it was invaluable as a learning experience and I am still very proud of it. The picture I am most pleased with is the picture of the conceptual child of the sun and the moon. The colors are bright and the effects are stellar. The total time spent for the entire project was probably close to 5 ½ hours. The picture of a tree was a thirty minute timed picture and the others were each around 1 hour.
